Ascent Trip ReportThis was a four peak day which started with Heart Bar Peak and included Peak 8868, 8763 and Peak 8745. Most of the climbing was off trail via direct route. Some of the travel was over decades old truck or jeep trails which have not seen a vehicle for a very long time. Some of these old roads have large trees growing right up in the middle of them. Starting off of Forest Road 1N38 which is at the mile marker 35.12, we made our way in a straight line to the summit of Heart Bar. Halfway up, we ran into a very lightly used use trail with some cairns marking the route. Most folks walk the lame road to the saddle and then use a trail to the summit. This is miles farther than the direct route. From Heart Bar it is all off trail or old truck roads to the other three summits. Peak 8868 is particularly beautiful with 360 degree views and it just has a great vibe to it. We could see San Jacinto, San Gorgonio and San Antonio Mountains all at the same time from this peak. Overall it was about 8 miles to do the full modified out and back trip. We crossed over dozens and dozens of tree falls and had to redirect many times due to heavy brush.
