Ascent Trip Report

Quite an awesome climb. Started from Timberline parking lot. Followed to the right of the chair lefts and runs to the Hogsback. Then took the Hogsback to the bergshrund which was just beginning to open up. The width of it was about a foot and a half and at the moment it was approximately 12 to 15 feet long. Went around the shrund to the right and up to the Pearly Gates. Since there was a group of about 7 climbers coming down the gate on the right decided to go to the left. There were 2 climbers coming down that one and about 9 of us waiting to go up. Once they made it down everyone waiting headed on up. Fabulous views of St Helens, Ranier, and Adams from the summit. Because of the cloud cover at 8500 feet could not see anything on the deck, but what did it matter anyway with these beautiful mountains poking their heads through the clouds. Also had a good view of Jefferson on the way up. Such a great day for the climb!
