Ascent Trip Report

This was my fourth attempt on Indian Rock, and Mari's third, after one flat tire and two unsuccessful winter efforts. This time, we were not to be deterred. The road was driveable until the split with Road 284, where a large tree has fallen across the road. It will probably be cleared relatively soon.

We started seeing patchy snow fairly soon after starting, which evolved into full ground cover over the course of the walk. It never made the going very difficult, and it made the descent a lot of fun. Views from the summit weren't superb, but it is a very pretty spot, and fun to be atop the rock outcrop in the midst of all the trees.

Light rain started on the walk down, which was a great motivator for a quick return. On our way out, we stopped for hot chocolate and pastries at the Greek monastery/cafe on Highway 97. Their baklava is not to be missed.
