Ascent Trip ReportSecond part of this hike and the third hike of the day. My 9th peak in 24 hours in the region. Came off Black Mountain and slid east to do the Little Black Mountain loop. One note, that the actual track I attempted to follow from Chris Collier was close but signage keeping you off trails with erosion pushed my actual track a bit further north for awhile but it rejoined and you end up climbing Little Black from the backside. Saw a really interesting bird with a bright yellow head - it was tiny and hard to photograph.
I enjoyed this little side hike as there were no people on the loop - complete solitude and the views through the valley were nice.
Finished the day with another 13 miles of hiking and another 3k vertical so that my 24 hour period in SD included 9 peaks with 25 miles and 6k total. A nice diversion while on business in the area.
