Ascent Trip Report

Road bikes around the island and walked both to check out various areas with signage for the state park. Was surprised to see that the state park claimed the area in and around the old metal lighthouse which is the second highest point on the island (the highest point is on the northern part of the island). There is a public parking with state park pay station along the beach and next to the high ground of 9 next to the lighthouse. The highest point in the state park is in this vicinity but it is so flat who knows where exactly. I walked around the lighthouse, both north and south and on both sides of the main roadway and surely was on the highest ground in the state park but it seemed logical to call the lighthouse the point of the journey at the end of the day.
