Ascent Trip ReportHappy Thanksgiving, yes, a Happy Thanksgiving for sure spent on the summit of Wildrose Peak with incredible views down into Death Valley and beyond. A cool breezy day with a light snow falling on the summit. This is a very beautiful hike of about 8 miles starting at the Charcoal Kilns and the sign for Wildrose Peak. It is kind of neat to look down from the summit into Death Valley and know folks are running around down there in shorts and t-shirt as you are on the summit with a bit of insulation and at least a shell and then looking northwest at the Sierra Nevada range and knowing full well the folks on those mountains are wearing a little more insulation yet. This is really a neat hike and a beautiful summit. We camped at Wildrose Campground and it was pretty good with a bit of wind. The road up to the Charcoal Kilns was covered with a few inches of snow but in fine shape for just about any two wheel drive, however beyond the Charcoal kilns a quarter mile or so, it was all ice. Another beautiful day on a peak with Kim. Happy Thanksgiving.
