Ascent Trip ReportHarquahala Mountain Trail. Turn off of US 60 is easy to miss. Gate was closed but not locked. Follows arrows marked "Trail" past a few turns. I would say that high clearance is important, not 4WD to reach the trail head, but that said someone got their sedan up there. We overnighted in the parking lot, utilized the cleanest TH vault toilet I've ever used, and hit the trail before 7a. I'd recommend an earlier start in shoulder seasons because the bulk of the ascent was in the shade with the early start. The trail is not marked but easy to follow and maintains a steady grade. No register found at the summit. |
