Ascent Trip Report

What a beautiful hike. The Holy Jim Trail had much to offer. It had rained last night and so all of the brush and trees were covered in a fine mist, and had it not been for the cool temps already; the water on the leaves would have done a fine job of keeping us cool as well. The trail itself was easy on the feet. Not a lot of rocks to clamor over, plus the drop off of needles and small branches made it like walking on plush carpeting. 4100 feet of gain in the past has been difficult and slow going in the past, but the lay out of the trail made it quite easy to gain the elevation quickly. The weather could not have been better either. Temps were in the 40's and with the partly cloudy skies just made everything perfect especially since we were advised not to attempt the summit of San Jacinto with 55 mph sustained winds on the summit with gusts in the 80+ range and took that advice. This was the final climb on our trip to Southern California over the spring break period, and certainly capped off a great couple of days with my son.
