Ascent Trip ReportI actually failed on my main objective, Granite Peak. I had removed the sewn in insoles in my favorite (older) boots and replaced them with Superfeet insoles for better cushioning. While I had tested the "new" boots about 20 miles carrying moderate pack, my break-in had not been sufficient and the one day trip up and across Froze To Death Plateau had turned my feet into mincemeat. My three partners were successful on Granite Peak doing a long day on the Chimney Route. I had a leisurely day strolling up Tempest from the Plateau Camp.
