Ascent Trip Report

As for access, the roads getting out to this area are great- dirt, but passenger car friendly. We took the road heading east from US 93 a few miles north of Caliente that is signed for Beaver Dam State Park, then took the major road heading northeast signed for Utah (and other points). The "road" we hiked could possibly have been driven for a while, but not much faster than we walked it. There were enough remains of the road to make the hiking easier than it would have been otherwise.

This was a pretty area, but a very unrewarding hike with no (distant) views or summits to speak of. It felt like we gained about 20 vertical feet to get from the area marked on peakbagger as the wilderness high point to the local maximum marked 6201', so I thought the spot elevation marked 6186 across the canyon to the east might be higher, so we visited that as well (neither was visible from the other) on the way "down". My GPS said that the former (the point marked by peakbagger as the high point) was about a foot higher, so definitely within the margin of error.
