Ascent Trip ReportI headed to the small village of Migny an asked around about hiking up Mt Gimie. Several people immediately approached the car. I decided to to go the following morning with a guide by the name of Williamson Denis. He is from Migny and his family has a large farm right next to the trail to Gimie. He met me promptly at the time we decided the following morning. The trail is not really that hard to navigate and the only issue is located the starting point which is up a small road on the right next to a house where you step over a metal chain and walk through a field. The total hike takes about 2 hours up and 1.5 hours back. On the summit we chilled out for about 45 min and there was great views over the entire island of St. Lucia. After the hike Williamson took me to his family farm and shared some food with me and I met his father and other workers and family members. Everyone was extremely friendly and this is a great way to see the real day to day like of people in St. Lucia not the touristy destinations found all over. Williamson even gave me some herbs, vegetables and seasoning to take with me home from his farm. I wont publish the price I paid here but you can negotiate it with him yourself he is an honest person and even if I didnt need the guide I would recommend going with him just in case you are alone or want to be absolutely sure you wont get lost. From what I have read that other people paid his price was way more fair and I highly recommend him also for trekking and visiting other places in the forest reserve.
