Ascent Trip ReportAfter butchering Cheaha the evening before by arriving after dark and running around for 5 minutes, I woke up early in Alexander City, AL to head straight-ish towards Britton Hill and Florida (it would be my first time in the state).
Pretty easy spot to find, with multiple signs at junctions indicating Florida's highest point was nearby. The small park is unassuming, but there's a nice big sign and large rock both stating that you were 345 feet above sea level (no need to worry about AMS). Got pictures (to make it official), signed the register (it's beside the bathroom door), and headed for Destin's white beaches (which I discovered were too cool, even for a Canadian in March). |
