Ascent Trip Report The Adobe Range High Point is #159 on the P2K list with 2055 feet of prominence and can be accessed from the Ryndon, Nv. exit 314 off I-80. Take graded Coal Mine Canyon Road north for 8.6 miles to a Y junction. Continue on the left fork for 6.3 miles to a Dept of Interior Vegetation Study project. This is a fenced riparian area on the left side of the road. A jeep trail goes south from this area for about 2.5 miles where the hike can begin. I didn't like the looks of the start of the jeep road so I started my hike at the study area, but after about a 1/4 mile the road improved and could easily be traveled with 4WD and good ground clearance.
After the 2.5 miles I made a side hill traverse toward a prominent outcrop that contained a tall, well made rock cairn just north of the high point. From here, a uphill scramble south through several snow fields brought me to the summit and a small cairn that contained a register. The obligatory signing, a celebratory selfie, and a hasty retreat from the cold wind and cloud obscured views brought me back to the truck for the trip home.
