Ascent Trip ReportWe had a little trouble finding the trail head, so we piled up some boards from a broken fence at the TH to make finding the trail easier. The first part of the trail isn't ducked; following it is a bit iffy, but from the first wash to the peak, the trail is well-ducked. I'm always amazed at how the terrain changes in the desert as one climbs. Not a lot of boulder hopping, but enough to add some variety to the hike. The earthen dam is part of the road; we turned right on the road, and hiked about 1/4 mile to a use trail on the left. Saw a nice Red Diamond Back Rattler--that coiled and rattled--on the road. The use trail is pretty easy to find and that trail is well-ducked all along. That is the trail that has been clipped and is pretty clear, although is a little overgrown in spots, but it isn't bad. We passed several little bumps adorned with rocks en route. Gnats are starting to bug; if you don't want them to bother you, take me on your hike :)
We opted for lunch over Iron Spring, which we will save for another day.
