Ascent Trip Report

Acclimation hike from base camp to altitude train but rain set in and we were not equiped for the constant rain. Backpacked up to basecamp and then dropped packs for scramble up summit. The bushwacked trails and high scrambles became dangerous in the wet and some members of team (David in particular) began to chill despite raingear (sweating under the raingear) turned back before he got hyperthermia only 400-500 feet from summit. I felt great despite my bruised thigh and was the only fool that wanted to finish. Being the only one that wanted to continue and realizing David need to get dry clothes on we bailed. Rain varied from a drizzle to constant downpour off and all daylong. Miserable day to acclimate hike.
There was 8 miles of backpacking in the rain with 40 pound packs and about 2 miles of free scramble and bushwhacking in the rain for a total of 10 miles.
