Ascent Trip Report

Still working on taking it easy with the ankle sprain... whine, whine, whine... Had the day to travel to Yuma and used it wisely for some great exercise in the mountains. The HPS directions are close enough to get you there. The gate that (may) be locked 3 miles before the PCT crosses the road looks like it hasn't been locked in years. The PCT was in great shape and the use trail was well-marked with a cairn. You can see the lone dead tree trunk from quite a way below on the PCT when approaching from the south. This is the turn to the summit. The register was about 3 years old, the usual HPS folks inside plus some random others. There was some old junk on the summit from who knows what. I packed it all out so it is a cleaner summit now! Probably only 5 pounds of crap... There are pine trees beginning to grow on the use trail slope from the fire damage, so that is an encouraging sign. I watered a few of them since I carried 2 liters up and needed less than 1. Pics
