Ascent Trip Report

Solo summit in -20 degree temps, not including wind chill. Started out at the Rt 86 trailhead. Followed the Blue trail to the summit. The Trail not the easiest to follow in the snow. At about .7 from the summit the trail markers are few and far between. Whoever attempted the summit on the 12th of Feb did not make it. At .6 miles to go their tracks lost the trail and circled around a little before they turned back. After attempting the same routes they did I went back and looked carefully at the snow covered forest floor. From there I could see the difference between the under brush and found the route. From this point it took some careful scanning but I continued with success to the summit. It was 6.7 miles round trip. I GPS tracked myself and it took about 3 hours. The last 1/4 mile is steep and crampons would be advised in winter.
