Ascent Trip ReportFrom 78, on the S2 turned right about 4.3 miles on Pinyon Mountain Valley Road (a 4x4 road that was mostly sand and only some narrow stretches). At the saddle between Whale and Pinyon Mountain, notable turnoff to the left with a roundabout parking area. After summiting Whale, we bushwhacked and scrambled our way up the side of the mountain. Our dog kept getting burrs stuck in her paws repeatedly on this mountain.
