Ascent Trip Report

A road/xcountry walk .... 400 yards, 12 minutes RT.

I used Scott's Surgent's TR of 2007 which is still good. This TR only attempts to update/add-info.

The crest of R1674 now has a gated entrance #27197, with the driveway heading west over the HP and beyond to some homes. I was able to push open the unlocked gate for me to walk through to the pasture land.

We approached from the south, it is 14.5 miles from I-10, exit 442 to the gate.

Warning to High Pointers wanting to visit Arca Hill ... whose access road from the west off of R1674 is just .6 miles to the south (the summit is about 1 mile east). There is no access here, the tall locked gated entrance with a fragile fence was not to my liking. An alternate access would have to be to be found.

We drove north on R1674 stopping in for a short visit at Fort McKavett.
