Ascent Trip ReportStarted out at the AT trail head in Wind Gap, PA with Todd Phillips at 9am. Headed north along the AT for 2 miles then made a right onto the access road to the high point. The trail was completely snow covered. The first 1.5 miles of trail was broke by myself this past Tuesday night. Today we had to break trail for about 1 mile. From there someone had road a snowmobile along the access road so we just took off the snowshoes and walked the track to the top.
The weather was perfect for a winter hike. Sunny and about 25 degrees. Unfortunately there is no views along the route, not even at the top. The entire trip is forested and the top is covered with about 4 cell towers and 2 more towers not in use.
We did see Bobcat tracks, coyote tracks, and several deer tracks along the route. Even without a view it was still a nice hike. Round trip was about 6 miles. We bushwacked a little between the AT and access road to save mileage and just for fun.
