Ascent Trip ReportI turned off of US75S in Auburn because it looked like my prospects of skiing in Kansas were bleak as the snow coverage had decreased to maybe 10% at this point on my drive south. I took US136 west to County Line Road. I went south on this for a mile and a half. The first mile was hearty grey gravel, but the last half was all totally saturated dirt with some snow cover. I was throwing two brown rooster tails with my new car, Merlin. I've already been to 41 highpoints with Merlin, but this was the first under my ownership, and not Artski's. The highpoint was on the east side of the road thanks to the county line placement and was simply the field edge berm. There was a single strand electric fence holding cattle in the field. Both sides of the road were in cord last season. The day was kind of gloomy with a bit of sun mixed in. About 34F degrees. |
