Ascent Trip Report

Totally different route than previous trip reports. The Florida Forever Trust Grant Program purchased these hilly lands along Lake Franklin and dedicated them to the public (like the lands I found and described at Kelly Park and at Doris Leeper Preserve)for a god park, biking trails, and hiking. Starting at the shore of Lake Franklin and then hiking down to the lower sinkhole pit by US highway 441, I was able to wander the meandering and hilly terrain of the bike trails while staying out of the few bike rider's way and enjoy some wooded hilly walking (the land is full of wild coffee in full bloom Psychotria nervosa) with its bright red berries and has been quite disturbed by man with some exotics but it was still a fun way to do this hike from another direction adn get more hilly terrain along the way. I parked the car off 9th Ave at a park where kids play and could walk down the public lands to the Lake and sink hole. The Urban street part is less enjoyable from this side than when taken from the north approach from Lake Dora where you get to at least see a bunch of nice shops and restaurants. The HP is anti climatic from either direction but at least I have another approach when out walking after seeing the cardiologist
