Ascent Trip Report

En route to White Sulphur Springs in PA, Daniel and I decided to knock out the WV, MD, PA triple and hopefully stop at Seneca Rocks to camp and climb for a morning on the way. The weather wasn't very accommodating, so we didn't stop to camp in the wet and rainy Seneca Rocks area. Huge bummer. We still drove up and over Spruce Knob from the south (a beautiful drive) and did the ultra short 900 foot walk to the summit tower. The views were nice, but there wasn't anything up there that was really special; no markers, no info guides, no "this-is-the-surrounding-area-and-mountains" boards, no historical account plaques. But it felt surprisingly alpine; windswept areas covered by huge talus, the likes of which I haven't seen since I'd been west of the Rockies. It was quite beautiful, and quite windy, so with hours to go and uncertain of our route due to having no signal, we took off after fifteen minutes of shenanigans and pictures.
