Ascent Trip ReportMiddle of the night before the property is sold to some new owner that will probably bulldoze it for a McMansion... Many thanks to Martin Pyne for his recent report and post to CoHP that prompted us to make this Herculean drive from SoCal to San Jose at the last minute. This peak was done second of three. We left Loma Prieta and continued north along the road that follows the spine of this minor mountain range. It changes names here and there... The Christmas Tree Farm was still signed as such. We certainly hope that they were able to open for their final season before the Grinch takes over the property!
This peak is logged as the first of two on Dec 24th as we started the walk around 1am and finished not long after that. The northern route has a gate that would have been easy enough to hop, but we wanted to use the open gate. Our southern route wet through the open gate. We parked at the large pullout marked with "no parking" signs. It was 1am... We wandered the area quite thoroughly to ensure that we covered the high ground. Additionally, Keith was looking for some benchmark from previous trip reports.
We slept in the parking lot for Castle Rock State Park less than a mile from the peak immediately following our ascent. We were in bed by 2:30 am and up at 7:30 am. No ranger hassles...
New record for time & distance on Mt Bielewski!
45 minutes car-to-car
