Ascent of Mayapple Knob on 2015-12-21
|Date:||Monday, December 21, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4054 ft / 1235 m|
Ascent Trip ReportLeft Rattlesnake Knob following the ridge west toward Mayapple Knob. This was the craggiest and most difficult secton of the traverse. Once I reached Cut-Off Gap, the crags stopped, and it was open woods.
But the spur doesn't go up from the east, it's just a big hill up to the north spur, and it'd been raining, spitting snow and sleet since about noon, and it was wet and slippery and steep, so it was difficult anyway, even in open woods. Once I reached that spur, it wasn't bad, and the summit was a huge flat area.
