Ascent Trip ReportFrom Hat Creek on CA 89 I followed FSR 34N19 and 34N23 for 18 miles to Burney Mountain, Although the dirt road is well maintained, I found the last mile to be rather spectacular, becoming one-way with steep dropoffs, enough to make the average driver apprehensive. On top it was windy with dark overcast, modest visibility, and a few lightening flashes to the west, but no rain. Tom Henderson had the L.O. duty today. After a short visit I headed carefully down and headed via the Tamarack Rd. for an overnight in Burney.
