Ascent Trip ReportNeeded to clear the old gas out of my 1985 Baur E30 to hopefully pass emissions and decided to drive out to Panorama Point to knock out 2 birds with one stone. I left Greeley, Colorado a little before 8 am and was at the turnoff to the highpoint before 9:15. Weld County 136 turns into a gravel road and must be followed for about 12 miles to get to the turnoff.
My car did not have the clearance to get up the dirt road that leads to the high point, so I parked off of County road 111 and ran to the high point. The entrance fee is $3.00 a person and the high point is located on a Bison farm.
The road jogs up a down and I bet I gained 50 ft or so of elevation on the 1 mile plus jog to the highpoint marker. It was windy and cold, so I just signed the register, snapped a couple pictures and then jogged back to the car.
Nice trip, glad I found a reason to do it and get my 6th state highpoint. |
