Naomi Peak 9,979 ft, Cache County Highpoint.
Headed North from Tony Grove Lake and followed a nice trail until it became covered in couple feet of snow as I ascended. Cool views of Mt. Gog and Mt. Magog (neat names too). Donned my leg gaiters, then traveled cross-country through knee-deep snow in a Westerly direction to gain elevation up a relatively shallow basin. I first tagged the 9,900 foot peak just North of Naomi, but checked gps.. not quite there yet. So, traveled South just below the ridge, then climbed up onto a high flat rock formation and found the Geodetic Spikes marking Naomi Peak and the Highpoint for Cache County. 5 miles round trip. Fun snow hike! |
