Ascent Trip ReportThis is a very nice hike to do when it's too cold to hike the higher peaks. I drove from Boise to Kuna and stopped for lunch. I combined this hike with an ascent of Initial Point and an underground exploration of Kuna Cave since both were on the way to Celebration Park.
I parked just outside Celebration Park at the old Guffey Railroad Bridge. I followed trails somewhat, but they didn't lead to the summit, so I left the trails and just hiked cross-country. The summit is deceiving as it appears to be a small rise to the left, but once up to that point it is apparent that this is not the summit. Another 1/4 mile up you will reach the summit and the view is spectacular. Unexpectedly, there are cliffs on the south side and great views of the Owyhees. A huge cairn was at the summit along with a register and a bottle of Orange Crush, lol. As a side note, the contour map appears incorrect for this peak. The summit is located to the SW of the spot indicated on the map.
This is an enjoyable hike that I highly recommend for times when short on time or it is too cold to hike the higher peaks.
