Ascent Trip ReportEasy access, good roads. We took Bain Gap Road from Choccolocco Rd. This road has a gate that opens at 5 am and closes at 9 pm daily - pretty good access for what was once an off-limits Army base! Bain Gap intersects the gravel/dirt road heading south towards the summit along the crest of the ridge. This dirt road closes at dusk per the sign there. There are some stop signs here as well as a Fish & Wildlife Service information sign. Take this road south to just below the summit. I got a rental car (4 door standard passenger car) up it no problem. The road is in great shape. We parked a bit below the actual summit so that we could enjoy the stroll up to the top. We made our way off the road to the high ground which is home to a cairn and register. No pen was present, so I left mine in there for future peakbaggers. My parents were excited to be on their way to finishing the "Second Lap List!" 49 to go for them!
