Headed out on the CHRT from Pedro Fages Monument and then went left to go up the firebreak where the CHRT turns sharply right. Climbed over the barbed wire fence at the large wooden post. Firebreak disappears half way up then its cross country with easy bushwacking. From the summit I saw a metal witness post further north and went to check it out but found no tag or BM. From there I saw a large cairn even further north and went to check it out too. Excellent views from this summit including Granite, Chariot, Volcan, Roost, Buck North, Oriflamme, Whale, North, Middle, and Stonewall.
The bushwacking wasn't that bad so I headed back by taking the ridge all the way. On the first summit south I found a downed wooden witness post and wires, maybe an old section mark. Then went over 4974 and straight down to the parking lot, crossing the barbed wire fence again. Fun hike across the ridgeline.
