Ascent Trip ReportWe were driving out of the woods in the early morning and our Black Hills Map didn't show all of the roads. We saw that we wanted to go on a road that went by Cicero Peak, so we turned on a road that we thought would do that. It turned out that this road was not on our map and it actually just went to the top. We stopped before the final corner on the road and parked at what is probably the only such parking spot on the road. It was a nice visit. We determined that we should summit Cicero as long as we drove up it. Luke thought that he would need to put on hiking shoes to make the summit, but after a couple minutes of fussing around with his things he turned around and saw that we were just walking up to the tower, barely a walk in the park. we went up the rest of the road and found rocks sticking up on the west side of the building which were the highest. Great views of sunrise from up there! |
