Ascent Trip ReportFrom our campsite just below, we headed easterly from Martha Lake (11,007'), passed by lakes 11,960 and 12,240 up to the Goddard Col, and completed the climb to the higher north summit over the south peak via the southwest ridge. Great, extensive alpine panorama, as advertised. Weather looked iffy at times, but held steady. We were camped with friends for a 5-day visit to this little visited area. We were packed in from Florence Lake to the John Muir Trail (6.2 miles), down Goddard Canyon (6.8 miles), then via a use trail along the south fork of the San Joaquin River up to our great campsite (1.5 miles).
