Ascent Trip ReportNorth and South Beacon Mtns done together.
Hike done on a perfect fall day. For a short trail it is surprisingly steep including a set of stairs at the very beginning, after which multiple steep switchbacks bring you to the old gear house and casino. From there the entire town of Beacon can be seen as well as up and down the Hudson river from Storm King Mtn to the POK bridge.
From there it is a relatively easy trek from North Beacon Mtn over to South Beacon Mtn and the fire tower. From the top of the tower, on this clear day, we could see downtown Manhattan! |
