Ascent Trip Report

A road walk ..... 3km, 50 minutes RT.

After visiting the Mont Burnt summit I returned to Highwater and went northeast on Hwy #243 for 2km to a left turn on Chemin Multimore (2.1km further northeast is the village of Masonville), 1.3km north turned left on Chemin Marguerites, .6km west turned right on Chemin Fitzsimmons which I followed north .8km to a gated service road on the left (across house #79). Parked here (45.05621,-72.48715). This road is not shown on the satellite images.

I walked/climbed the good gravel road westerly 1.6km to the summit, capped with a fairly new fenced-in Communication Tower. Its construction removed some of the summit area.

The present obvious HP is at the large red maple tree 30 meters east of the Tower (45.05818,-72.44307), which today was in full color. The summit offers great views to the west of the Monts Sutton range.

The descent towards the east gives you a superb colorful painting of the valley ahead of you with Monts Sugarloaf, Owls Head and Bear dominating in the distance. The whole landscape for the most part, on this beautiful sunny warm day, was a sea of red ..... filling one's heart with joy and happiness. Nothing matches being in the woods on days like today.

I got home in time to take-in the last half of the Rangers/Blue Jays 4th playoff game, which the Jays won 8-4, tying the series at 2-2.
