Ascent Trip Report

Fantastic hike with my Son on a perfect fall morning.
We got up early to beat the crowds - good thing to because they were parked all up and down the parkway by the time we left.
Departed the Tram parking lot at 9am.
Hike up is steep right away and continues that way until close to the top.
A few viewpoints along the way look down over the valley which was in peak fall foliage.
Halfway up the trail switchbacks across the Kinsman Glade ski trial. This trail is so steep the hiking trail has to switchback across it. Cannon Mtn only rates this ski trail as a single black diamond but it's a triple in my book!
The trail branches but definitely take the view branch to the left and take in the views above Franconia notch and across to Lafayette and Lincoln. Just don't too close to the edge - it's quite a drop!
Then up to the summit which was packed with Tram tourists. There was a traffic jam on the loop trail so we had to just stand there a few minutes to let people pass.
We were going to have lunch at the summit but decided to head back down to the much more relaxing cliff.
Then back down the trail which was uneventful but much quicker than our relaxed pace up.
Back at the car at 1:20pm. 5 miles in 4:15 is a comfortable pace with plenty of time to take in the view.
