Ascent Trip Report***Update*** After hiking back up, I have concluded the memorial pillar is NOT the true summit. Click the link below to see a summary of my findings.
We started from the Whitman Mission Visitor Center. There is a paved trail all the way to the top. Just walk out the back of the visitor center and there will be a dirt trail with a covered wagon on your left labeled as Whitman Grave and Memorial Trail. Apparently it was part of the Oregon trail as well. Its about 95 feet of elevation gain and should take about 5 minutes. Peakbagger app claimed it was .3 miles up from the visitor center to the summit. We hiked the long way, visiting all the signs and things and ended up walking around .3 miles up and back. If you take an immediate left from the back of the visitor center, you can take a trail that is only about .15 miles each way.
Great views from the top and a cool memorial pillar. ***NOTE*** The true summit is NOT the memorial pillar. See the link above for details about where I believe the true summit is. At the time of this ascent, I just went to the pillar and have therefore marked it as an attempt.
