Ascent Trip Report

I was looking for a fairly close, easy trail with a view for quick hike on Saturday afternoon. The route description for Anti-Aircraft peak, with six miles and just a few hundred feet of elevation gain, sounded just about right. Unfortunately I didn't pay close enough to where the starting point of said route was, and instead just plugged "Anti-Aircraft Peak" into Google Maps and followed it to the trailhead. Turns out the Anti-Aircraft Peak trailhead is AT Anti-Aircraft Peak, rather than the beginning of the trail one would hike to get there! Whoops :-/

Despite my blunder of parking at our intended destination, the dog and I had a great hike around Cougar Mountain Regional WIldland Park, including some great views of Seattle, Bellevue, and the Olympics from some as-yet-undeveloped multigazillion dollar lots on Radio Peak.

The brochure maps that were available at the parking lot were a great help in navigating the park. We hiked along several trails and didn't see anyone except at the parking area, despite it being a beautiful, sunny Saturday afternoon. Very quiet, very pleasant. It was kinda eerie being in the middle of such a dense urban sprawl and yet having a really peaceful walk in the woods. There were some muddy spots and a few bugs out, but not enough of either to be a problem.
