Ascent Trip ReportAfter ascending what I would now call 'the so-called Abitibi Highpoint' I drove the deserted campground and drove to the sign 'plage et interprétation' referred to by Ben Lostracco. I parked and started up the trail. It climbs steeply relying on stairs in many places. I reached the top, once again to find a large area freshly leveled by heavy machinery. They are working on the ski trails and the summit area where the chairlift ends. I walked to the wooden two level platform. This is the area of the true summit and was not touched by the leveling taking place less than twenty feet away. I spotted the brass benchmark, I took picture and looked at my altimeter. Then I went up the wooden structure, read the information sign about the ice age and geology. The view is very nice and I could see clearly the other summit I was on earlier. Survey equipment would be necessary to determine which one is highest. Maybe the closed mine records have the information. I came back down and drove off to my next business meeting in Senneterre.
