Ascent Trip ReportThe final summit blocks of Jobs Peak look intimidating, but the trail continues around to the north side and has maybe a couple spots of upper class 2 or lower class 3 scrambling.
Going down, we found a trail heading south over the northwest-southeast ridge, but given we didn't know where it went, and the direct route looked good, we decided to make a beeline for our trailhead. It worked great and was one of the most enjoyable descents I've ever experienced. Somewhere around 9000' we were forced to do a minor stream crossing which looked tough because the channels are much steeper than the the topo maps indicate, but it was easier than it looked and we only had to regain about 15' on the other side. This probably could have been avoided had we stayed further east. Somewhere around 8600' we found a road, but when it appeared to go off (and up) in the wrong direction, we abandoned it and again went straight for the trailhead. |
