Ascent Trip Report

Hot day on the Labour Day weekend, about 30 C. Fortunately, most of the trail is shaded.
The Mt. Pleasant Mine, which includes part of the summit, is private property, fenced and gated. Unfortunately, because of a previous incident of vandalism years ago, they won't grant permission to hike up using their road.

Fortunately however, there is an old, unmarked road that is on Crown land, that leads to the summit. From the road to the mine, you might even miss it, because it looks more like an ATV trail from the road. From Route 785, go exactly 2.3 km along the road to the mine, and the trail head will be on your right. Park on the shoulder.

At the summit is a tower and a couple of communication shacks. Be advised that there are apparently bears in the area", so I was advised by a security guy for the mine. I didn't see any, but I made a lot of noise as I hiked up, hoping this would keep them hidden. Seemed to have worked !
