Ascent Trip Report***WTC Experience Trip***
led by Mat Kelliher, Beth Epstein
2-day trip for WTC Experience. Came up Lakes Canyon via Lundy Lake. Easy backpack up to Oneida Lake. Real scenic. It took us about 2.5 hrs to get up to camp from the trailhead. Relaxed Saturday afternoon at camp.
Sunday we headed out for Mt Warren early via the gully that empties into Crystal Lake. I read about this route in an old SPS trip report. The route is effective, but the trip report leaves out two important words. The first is: Slog. The second: Talus. I'll include them both with mine; it is a friggin steep slog up talus from about the point you start heading up the gully until you get back to camp. We took a little variation and starting around 10,600', headed up a rather spicy chute to gain a ridge a bit west of the peak. This saved us a whole lot of effort, but pushed the Class 2 pretty hard.
