Ascent Trip Report

We found our way to the main entrance of Warren Dunes State Park, on Red Arrow Hwy south of Bridgman. Paid our 9$ entry fee and received a trail map.
The State Park Road goes south from the entrance to the south end of the Park where it loops right and heads north to the large parking lots along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. This is a very popular/busy Park in the summer, evidenced by the number/huge parking lots.
I visited 4 peaks in this Park all as per this TR.

TOWER HILL ..... .4 mile RT.
At 100 yards south of the main entrance we turned right into the picnic areas, at the fork stayed right and went to its very end at a turn-around.
At the north side of the turn-around is a herd path that climbs, very steeply north (up a chute), 100 yards to the very good trail on the E-W ridge. I went left (west) for 200 yards directly to the summit ..... the BM "USC&G Survey ALDTEN 1954" ????? is worn and not clear, it sits on a 3 foot high steel pipe. The actual HP is just to its south.
I backtracked to my TH and drove back to the State Park Road.

MOUNT FULLER .... .4 miles RT.
We continued south on the State Park Road to the third parking area, at the very bottom/south-end of the loop. We parked here, the summit is to the north.
To the right of the toilet and behind the picnic tables is a herd path. Immediately inside the woods there is a fork, I stayed straight (left) as it climbs north, up a gully, to a col at about 150 yards. A path on the right climbs steeply to an inverted U shaped ridge, I followed it ccw to the summit at the southwest side of the ridge, perhaps 400 yards from the TH. The HP is obvious at 41.90309,-86.60720.
We continued driving on the State Park Road to the large parking lots.

PIKES PEAK .... .4 miles RT.
This all sand dune summit is 300 yards east of the parking lots, perhaps the most popular of all the peaks, On this day there were lots of people on its sand slopes .... walking, sliding or sand boarding plus 2 hang-gliders entertaining the tourists.
I slogged my way up the slope of the obvious HP, 41.90597,-86.60211. Took photos and returned to the van.

DUNE PEAK 750 .... .8 miles RT.
We drove to the very northwest side of the parking lots (near the shore and start of woods to the north), sign "Mount Randall Trail". I left thinking I was going to Randall.
Immediately inside the trail there is a fork, arrow points right to the Campground, I stayed left (thinking this was the Randall Trail) as it heads north parallel to the shore line. At 300 yards north in full view to the right (east) is the all sand "Dune Peak 750" at about 400 yards. I trudged my way up the steep slope to the obvious summit (41.91201,-86.57636), thinking I was on Randall. The other couple already there thought the same.
As I wrote up this TR and checked the topo I found out that I was no where near Randall (it being 400 yards to the southeast).
So if one is going to Randall he must go right at the arrow ... maybe next time.
This is a beautiful summit with great views .... added it to the PB library.

"IT AIN'T OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER." ...... berraism.
