Ascent Trip Report

Cass County was singled down to one high spot after LiDAR analysis (the area numbers come from cohp.org):
Area 1: 1453.27’
N41.48295 W94.76630
Area 2: 1460.85’
N41.48174 W94.76811
Area 3: 1463.22’
N41.50401 W94.70541
The dataset's accuracy is approximately 1.2' with vegetation and half that without, so the analysis safely eliminated the first two. Area 3 is quite easy, being along a road on the northern county line. We pulled off of the interstate at exit 70, went north one mile to 350th Street, took a right and followed that past Thrush Ave to a drive to the south which goes to one wind turbine. It is here on 350th that the county tops out. I walked on the highest part of the roadbed and off in the grass for a minute. We got back on the interstate by going by the drive which goes to the Adair County Highpoint, which is signed, and then continued on to the ramp at exit 75. Note the smiley face water tower in Adair!
