Ascent Trip Report

Got a late start on this one. Parked in the St. Regis lot, but saw folks driving back along the road marked "Trail" so I followed them. Bad choice, as it was a wedding back at the Topridge Great Camp. Pretty back there, but I wasn't dressed for the occasion. I drove back to the parking area and headed up the trail around 4:45pm. Thunder was rumbling to the north, and the trail was pretty dark due to the overcast, but it was pretty fast going. You have to go up and over an intermediate ridge, but this section is nice and easy. It only kicks up as you start up the main trail up St. Regis. Nice views at the top, you cannot climb the tower (lower steps have been removed) and there are several benchmarks around the top. You really get a remote feel from the top, as almost no buildings or houses are visible. It took me about 90 minutes to get up, and just over an hour to get down. Fun hike!
