Ascent Trip ReportA dirt road and bushwack ...... 1.8 miles, 1:10 hours RT.
Rose and I found our way to the Water Treatment Plant using Bill Schuler's TR. A Gas Pipe Line with a service road runs E-W about 100 yards before the Plant, no signs here. This was my Hiking route, no need to go to the Plant for permission. We parked before this service road away from probing eyes.
I walked the dirt road west .3 miles to where it bends left to a Gas Pipe Line Station, on the right is a track heading north, coordinates at this bend 45.03125,-84.86321.
I walked the track north .25 miles to a clearing in the 450 meter contour. The ridge here runs northeast-southwest. Left at 100 yards is the south end of the contour at a shed (spot elevation 454 meters on topo). This is HP "AREA #1A" for this end of the long contour (45.03266,-84.86497).
I went northeast, 250 yards, and found a second obvious candidate high point for this same contour "AREA #1B",(45.03454,-84.86302). I couldn't sight back to the other for elevation differences.
I continued northeast on the ridge short distances to the small contours for AREA 2 (45.03513,-84.86234) and AREA 3 (45.03613,-84.86166), both obvious HPs.
Nice open woods, easy going. My eye-level told me that Areas 2 & 3 are definitely lower than Area #1B. We need 2 other Highpointers to confirm this finding.
