Ascent Trip ReportHeaded early one morning with Kelsey and Dave, left at 5am drove north and started at the Ravine Lodge at 8am. Ascended up Gorge/Snapper/Carriage and took the 0.1 mile detour to the south summit. This was definitely worth it as the detour was short and the summit offered a nice rocky area with a great view where we took a snack break and snapped some photos. We continued back to the trail and made it to Moosilauke, where we ate lunch and shared the summit with probably a good 30 people. We spent around 45 min up there. Thought about extending the loop over the beaver and ridge trail to hit Blue and Jim, but my back was acting up so descended Gorge all the way down.
This was one of my top new England hikes so far, but still not matching mansfield or camels hump. We felt the south summit was a better view than the main. Overall, a great first visit to the Whites and nice to get Kelsey hiking.
