Ascent Trip ReportI used this address to get to the hill:
6 Black Plain Rd Exeter, RI 02822
I parked in the Ocean State Transit parking lot. I then spoke with a gentlemen who was in his yard on the west side of the street. He told me there used to be a small trail to the highpoint and there used to be a plaque off Austin Farm Rd. He was very nice. We were going to bushwhack around the south side of the fenced in bus parking lot, but there were two loud barking dogs. So we made our way around the north side of the fenced in lot which was easy at first, but them became somewhat difficult. You are then dumped out into the back yard of a house by a barn. We continued around the lot and then made our way south through some thick underbrush over a couple man made hills and past trash here and there. We kept going until we came to the abandon mobile home and the truck you can see from the satalite on google earth. We then walked around the truck to the highpoint. The underbrush was not easy to work through and it was very dense. We traced our way back the way we came to avoid any confrontation with the dogs we heard earlier or a different home owner.
This point was a pain to get to in the summer. I recommend doing it in the fall and using a GPS as the area around the truck seems very flat. Its hard to really tell which point is the High point, so less underbrush would help. |
