Ascent Trip ReportI had just gotten off the airplane a few hours before and I didn't feel well. I had a few hours in the morning, then meetings and meeting prep would keep me busy the rest of the week. What to do? Rush into the Mosquito range and try and bag a 14'er! I got sort of a late start from Greenwood Village (6am) and by the time I got to Kite Lake, I had to park about over a half mile down hill. Gorgeous day, and crowded. Lots of climber and a bunch of dogs (I love Colorado because of this). Hiking up through the old mines is fun and the trail was easy up to the saddle. My lowlander lungs were feeling the altitude, though. Once above the saddle, the hike got a bit steeper with folks going single file up and down the trail below the snowfield. I took a higher line just below the snow, which I remembered for the way down. I got to the top around 11, and weather was getting nasty to the north. We had a brief flurry of hail on top. I though I might try Cameron and Lincoln, but for the first day in the mountains, plus the weather, made me decide to just head back into Denver.
