Ascent Trip ReportBuddy of mine (Jeff) and I left Dallas at 930 drove through the night to Black Mesa. Started ascent at 640. Trail was flat for first 2 miles. Then straight up for about 500 feet. Then flat again to the marker. Walked over into New Mexico since it was so close. Got some pictures on the edge of the mesa. Pretty cool views from up there. Saw some mountains in the distance over in New Mexico. Hike down was quite easy as well. Saw a horny toad and some huge grasshoppers. Got in car and was back home by 930 that night. 24 hour trip, decent hike, great company, and knocked down my 6th state highpoint.
